My Room with A View -Part 1-

Like most other kids, I had my share of playing with doll house and creating my own home from cardboard boxes. Some lucky kids even have their own tree house or a secret hideout. I guess the basic human instinct to create shelter has been imprinted in our DNA since the beginning of time. Most people have some ideas of how their dream houses would look like, where it would be, even what sort of amenities they would like to have in it. In reality, however, only few people can actually afford to realize the ideas.
The concept of a dream house of course has its appeal, but for me how the house per se would look like doesn't matter much. It doesn't even have to be a house in the traditional sense, I don't care if it's an apartment, a boat house, a tepee, a bunk, a cave or a trailer. What's important is in the detail inside: the furniture, the arrangement, the color scheme, fabrics, the lighting, the whole enchilada.
Since in reality I could hardly afford anything fancy, the dream might be just the, a dream. However, the digital technology has allow me to create at least a two dimensional rendering of my ideas. So, let me present... my dream rooms.

Reading Room
Color scheme: black and white with red accents.
Concept: reminiscent of a Brit house; big chunky furnitures with an edge to soften the whole look.
Piece de resistance: the rococo pop artsy armchair and the plush faux polar bear rug.
Notes: I resisted the urge to add a fireplace... a bit overkill if I may say so.

Wardrobe & book shelf: Vincent Leman;
armchair: Happy Hour by Chaplins (using Roy Lichtenstein fabrics);
Cat poster: Chairman Meow
Study/Work Room
Color scheme: black, orange, salmon pink (soothing yet vibrant).
Concept: kitsch yet inspiring.
Piece de resistance: vintage Singer sewing machine, egg chair, Guido Crepax's stuff
Notes: Though each room is individually arranged, I try to keep a common theme in the furniture, which is pop art (well, I just can't have enough of them, that's all). Additionally, this room would be ideal for a fashion designer wanna be.

Cabinet: Guido Crepax's Metro series;
Posters: Guido Crepax;
Table lamp: Valina Design's Flying Piggy:
Egg chair: Inmod's Mod Pod Egg chair

Next post will be living room & bed room!
To be continued...
